The schooner NADEZHDA and the yacht LUKULL will leave Saint Petersburg for Kotka on the 13th of July. The ships will participate in two events of the international regatta The Tall Ships Races 2017.
One of the events is a cruise without competition (“cruise with friends”) from Kotka to Turku. The next event is a race from Turku to Klaipeda. Then the sailing ships will come back to Saint Petersburg on the 8th of August.
The participants of the “Hope of Seas” Project will go The Tall Ship Races 2017 on the schooner NADEZHDA. This project has been implemented since 2015 by Saint Petersburg Yacht Club with the support of Gazprom Company. The “Hope of Seas” is a series of training cruises, where the students of four higher educational establishments of Saint Petersburg participate for free: Saint Petersburg State Economic University, ITMO University, Mining University, and Peter the Great Saint Petersburg State Polytechnic University.
The students of Saint Petersburg Yacht Club's “Nautical School” will go to the regatta on the Lukull. “Nautical School” provides training in seamanship to the teenagers at the age between 13 and 17 years old. Young students learn nautical theory, navigation, sailing directions, the composition of cruising yachts and sailing ships, and the basics of carpentry. In summer, they master their knowledge and skills in real conditions: they participate in sea cruises on captain’s gigs and other sailing vessels.
