The competitions were held on September 6-7 in the water area of the Dahme River, in the city of Wildau (Germany).
The team of Peter the Great Saint Petersburg Polytechnic University – Saint Petersburg Yacht Club took silver at the international competitions for engineers Wildauer Solarbootregatta (Wildau, Germany). In course of this regatta, the teams build watercrafts with solar batteries and demonstrate their abilities.
The team of Saint Petersburg took the second place in the High-Speed Category. The races included three parts – races for high speed, maneuvers, and stamina. Only those boats, which are assessed by the technical committee as complying with the corresponding standards of the European competitions, were allowed to participate in the competitions.
The engineers team of Germany, Hungary, and Poland participated in Wildauer Solarbootregatta 2019. Team Russia consisted of the members of 11 teams – 6 teams of school pupils and 5 teams of students – from Moscow, Saint Petersburg, Ekaterinburg, Kaliningrad, Tolyatti, Nizhniy Novgorod, and Nizhniy Novgorod Region. All of them are winners of Solar Regatta — the competitions, which are organized in Russia within the framework of the project “Competitions and Contests for Engineers” of the road map of Marinet National Technological Initiative (NTI).
The competitions were organized by the Technical University of Wildau, Berlin-Brandenburg Solar Boats Association and the independent non-profit organization “National Center of Competitions and Contests for Engineers”.
